The old saying is true, “Attitude is everything,” especially when selling your Windsor home. In today’s real estate market, a positive attitude by a home seller is necessary and very helpful to ensure that your home is sold as quickly as possible.
Besides pricing your home correctly, making all repairs and staging, a seller needs to prepare mentally as well. Ask yourself these questions before you put your home on the market:
1. Are you prepared to have strangers walking through your Windsor home? They will be looking at your closets, examining your kitchen cabinets, turning on faucets and possibly making critical comments about your decorating tastes?
2. Are you prepared to maintain your home 24/7? You will never know when you will receive a call from your Realtor saying that there is a last minute showing. Will you respond quickly and be able to leave the home at a moment’s notice? Will your home be ready and in showing condition?
3. Are you prepared to deal with a low offer? It’s not uncommon for a seller to get offended when an offer comes through that many would consider insulting. The idea is not to take it personally and remember that it is business, not a personal offense.
4. Are you prepared to follow the advice of your real estate agent? This means that you need to follow the rule of always looking at your home through the eyes of a buyer. You may not agree with everything, and certainly there are subjects worth compromising, but know that your professional real estate agent is hired to sell your home. If your pink walls need a coat of neutral paint, are you willing to do the work?
Remember, attitude is everything, particularly in a recovering housing market. The old saying, “Selling is easy if you work hard at it,” is particularly true in real estate. By knowing the competition, pricing your Windsor home correctly, staging or decluttering your home and heavily promoting your property via the Internet, you are headed in the right direction.
