Many homeowners are very concerted about mold and mildew in their Windsor properties.  This is understandable as those owners trying to sell their homes that have had water problems in the past are now dealing with the after affects.  While having mold doesn’t always mean there is a health hazard, it does mean that it needs to be eliminated.  There is no way a prospective buyer will ignore mold if found or discovered.

So what is a seller to do?  First, if this hasn’t been a problem for you yet, then the goal is to be pro-active.  So do the following:

1.  Carefully watch moisture. If you have a leaky pipe underneath your sink, watch to see that mold doesn’t form and grow.

2.  Keep all surfaces clean and spotless.

3.  Make sure air circulates freely. Using the kitchen sink example, make sure cabinet doors are left open and use fan if necessary to air out.

4.  Use a dehumidifier if necessary.

5.  If repainting your Windsor properties, use a mildew-resistant latex paint.

6.  If any furniture is blocking air vents, be sure and move.  Again, you need to keep the air flowing.

While some are allergic to mold, others may have a toxic reaction that can be quite dangerous.  Clean the area affected thoroughly.  Go online and investigate good cleaning agents that can get rid of mold once and for all.  Once this has been done, continue to monitor the area to see if it comes back.  Remember, mold is located in many Windsor properties.  The best thing to do is handle it right away as it will only grow and become worse if ignored.  Check with your Windsor real estate agent for other recommendations
